Specialty Teas: Herbal, Cleansing And Detox Teas

Specialty teas such as cleansing teas, detox teas, and herbal teas may seem like a frivolous, overly expensive addition to one's diet, but in reality everyone can reap their benefits. When one mentions cleansing, or detox, most people automatically equate these words with drugs, or harmful substances. In reality, cleansing teas and detox teas can restore a person's energy, maintain mental clarity, and even provide relief for ailments, all without the side effects.

Cleansing teas are specialty teas that can relieve symptoms of conditions such as IBS by detoxifying the colon. These specialty teas are natural, vegetarian supplements that create regularity in addition to ridding the body of parasites and other buildup inside the colon. Active ingredients like cascara sagrada bark and senna leaf aid in the body's cleansing. Popular flavors include peach, mint, passion fruit, and apple cinnamon. Two popular brands of cleansing teas include Wellements and Sweet Sunnah, which cost $24 for a one month supply of 20 tea bags, and $72 for a three month supply.

Cleansing specialty teas do not contain caffeine, so they can be used before bed. As with any medicinal or herbal supplement, cleansing teas should not be used by children. Children's' bodies generally do not contain the buildup and plaque, and therefore are not prepared to sustain the effects of these specialty teas.

Detox teas are similar to cleansing teas in that they flush toxins out of the body to provide better function in bodily systems, and they do not contain caffeine. Detox teas are generally used for adults wishing to increase their energy, abate abnormal sleep patterns, and to relieve symptoms of allergies or colds. Detox teas, such as those by Celestial Seasonings, detox the body by using ingredients such as dandelion root, Echinacea, sasparilla root, and red clover in a combination that promotes a healthy immune system while cleansing the body of daily toxins.

Unlike some herbal supplements, the users do not build up a tolerance to the cleansing effects of the detox specialty teas . This is because detox specialty teas are used less frequently than the daily used herbal supplements. Specialty teas cost $11 for a box of 30 tea bags, and come in yummy palatable flavors such as apple cinnamon, and passion fruit.

Herbal teas are like cleansing teas in that they sometimes have medicinal purposes. Yet unlike cleansing teas, they aid people in various ways. Specialty teas by Celestial Seasonings can soothe a sore throat, promote wellness through autoimmune function, provide energy, promote sleep, and settle an upset stomach all without the use of medicines. Flavors such as honey peach ginger, peppermint, and chamomile make the specialty teas enticing rather than off-putting like some unpalatable flavors.

Herbal teas like Green Yerba Mate promote weight loss, are rich in vitamin C, and have energizing qualities. Green Yerba Mate herbal tea is also cheap: $6 for an 8 oz. bag of loose tea, and $10 for a 1 lb. bag.

Herbal specialty teas can also be used for cooking. One such specialty tea, Lemon Verbena herbal tea, can be used as a vegetable marinade, to flavor meats, and for sorbets. It is also refreshing to drink. Although this specialty tea costs between $7 for 2 oz., and $30 for 1 lb., its plethora of uses makes it cost effective.

Specialty teas provide a wealth of health benefits, cleansing, and detoxifying effects. Even when not used for health or medicinal purposes, specialty herbal teas are refreshing beverages. Whether it is to promote health or to add a punchy kick to a regular tea drink, specialty teas are a yummy and healthy choice in lieu of sugary sodas and juices.
