Specialty Teas: Diet, Slimming, Herbal Weight Loss And Green Tea

Everyone's looking for that magical cure to weight loss. Unfortunately, there isn't one, but there are some specialty teas that can aid people with weight loss. These specialty teas, also known as diet teas, slimming teas, and weight loss teas, have become a popular way for people to lose weight quickly.

Similar to recent studies about chocolate, specialty teas like herbal tea and green tea have been linked to antioxidant properties. Antioxidants are used to slow down the oxidation process within the body. Oxidation that happens too quickly can cause bodily harm, often in the form of cholesterol. After it becomes oxidized cholesterol clings to blood vessel walls and clogs the passageway, resulting in heart attacks. Obviously, with less cholesterol and fat, the body can move towards a slimmer weight.

Specialty teas used for dieting purposes can usually be put into two categories: diet teas and laxative teas. Diet teas stimulate the body to burn fat faster and are referred to as stimulant teas. Along with burning fat faster these slimming teas contain other stimulant traits, and if used long term can result in harm to the body. For instance, nervousness, headaches, and trouble sleeping are all symptoms of stimulant weight loss teas. The ingredients in diet teas that act as stimulants are often ephaedra, guarana, or ephedirine. Some of the most popular brands of diet teas include Super Slimming Teas, Dieter Slimming Tea, and Pu-erh Slimming Tea.

The second category for specialty teas are laxatives. These diet teas work by releasing large amounts of fluid from the body. While these teas work for a short time, they fail in the long run. Long term use of these teas results in the intestinal muscles becoming dependent on the tea. In other words, the intestines cannot digest food as quickly without the teas. Other symptoms of using these slimming teas include excess water loss and dehydration, which can lead to other serious medical problems in the future. Some of the most popular laxative tea brands include Bekunis and On San.

Even though these weight loss teas seem to get a bad rap from most people, there are good sides to other types of  specialty teas. For instance, green tea, a type of herbal tea, has been linked to an average weight loss of five pounds a year. This average weight loss is contingent about the fact that the green tea isn't sweetened with honey or sugar. This kind of herbal tea is also a great way to fight late night munchies. Simply brewing a hot cup of herbal tea is filling and can help with sleep. Other herbal teas include blueberry tea, birch tea, and blackberry tea.

Specialty teas can be purchased practically anywhere these days. In fact, most grocery stores even carry specialty teas. However, be careful when choosing diet teas, and make sure to take note of side effects. Other specialty teas like herbal tea can be purchased at grocery stores and health food stores. Specialty teas cost between $6 and $40.

Specialty teas can be a great boost to the weight loss journey, but one has to be careful. The wrong kind of specialty teas or the wrong amount can cause harm to the body, sometimes permanently. Also, note that specialty teas alone will not cause large weight loss. Only when these specialty teas are combined with diet and exercise do they create results.
